Bazas

Located about thirty minutes from Barsac, Bazas is a stopover on the Chemin de Saint-Jacques-de-Compostelle aka Pilgrims' Trail. Its cathedral, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is worth a detour, as is the Promenade de la Brèche, for a walk along the ramparts. The Gascon town is best known for the quality of its ""Bazadais"" beef, to be tasted in one of the restaurants under the arcades.
